How we estimate prices and check cars

Price

Good value: £1,599 (13%) under the AskCar estimate of £11,594.

The AskCar estimate is our expected asking price for this car. It uses UK dealer asking prices, accounting for make, model, trim, version, age, mileage, fuel, gearbox, body type, driven wheels, engine size and power. It is an advertised price, not a confirmed sale price.

It draws on 9,535 priced Kia Sportage adverts across different ages and specifications, as of 7 November 2026.

A 2016 Kia Sportage with the 1.6 petrol engine is typically advertised at £7,000: the median of the 155 for sale on AskCar, as of 7 November 2026.

Mileage and MOT

MOT, from the government's MOT records (DVSA, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency), as of 7 November 2026: valid until 8 June 2027.

It failed its MOT on 2 June 2026 (front passenger door cannot be opened from outside the vehicle; offside front tyre has ply or cords exposed inner edge; brake lever has insufficient reserve travel) and passed 7 days later, on 9 June 2026.

Advisories at the latest test: front brake pad(s) wearing thin.

Mileage at that test: 63,480 miles. The advert says 10,000 miles, fewer than the MOT record, so ask the dealer which is right.

Advertised mileage is about 70,500 miles lower than the median mileage of a 2016 Kia Sportage on AskCar.
